Fire Safety & Extinguisher Use

2-4 Hours – Lecture & Practical
The goal of this Fire Safety Course is to provide a knowledgeable understanding on the origins of fires, sources of fires, how to protect yourself, and how to prevent fires from occurring. This course was developed using the OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.150 pertaining to fire safety. This program will also include situations and proper use of portable fire extinguishers. The training will include practical application of portable fire extinguishers applied on S&ST’s propane driven fire extinguisher simulator.

CPR: Basic Life Support

4 Hours – Lecture & Practical
Basic Life Support training reinforces healthcare professionals’ understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, basic steps of performing CPR, relieving choking, and using an AED; and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival. Students will receive an American Heart Association CPR card upon successful completion.

Bloodborne Pathogens

2 Hours – Lecture 
The program will address the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and review of three most common bloodborne pathogens placing law enforcement at risk: Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV. Understanding the mode of transmission helps reinforce the utilization of Universal Precautions, vaccination recommendations and prompt reporting of any occupational exposures. The program will address what constitutes an exposure and available treatments in the event of exposure with special attention to issues specific to law enforcement, such as crime scene safety.

Right-To-Know/Hazard Communication

2 Hours – Lecture 
The program will include a lecture based powerpoint on the current Hazardous Communication Standard. The new standard will cover OSHA Hazcom as well as the new Global Harmonized System (GHS). GHS was incorporated into the Hazcom Standard in 2012.( Hazcom 2012 is Final Rule). This course will review the Right-to-Know/Hazard Communication and SARA Regulations as well as safety and health measures, Material Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Substance Fact Sheets. This course meets the NJDOHSS and OSHA Regulations.

Work Place Harrassment

2 Hours – Lecture 
This program will educate the student on the concept of workplace harassment, measures needed to prevent workplace harassment and employee rights to assure a harassment free workplace.
